D.A.R.E Mistakenly Supports Marijuana Legalization The federally-funded drug abuse prevention group D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) seemed to have made a monumental sea change in their prohibitionist attitude on Monday by publishing a letter supporting marijuana legalization. DARE’s posting of McDerment’s letter led New York Magazine to praise their massive change of heart, calling it a “breakthrough.” But the adoration came too soon, as the post was deleted shortly afterwards. This is not the first time that DARE failed to actually read items before publishing them. The group also published a satirical news article in May that fictitiously reported deaths from marijuana edibles in Colorado and the Coachella music festival.
